WHO AM I?

Hello there! I’m Dr. Morris, and if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am very passionate about all aspects of my life.   My approach to veterinary medicine is a unique blend of compassion, expertise, and an unyielding commitment to excellence. You’ll find in me not just a skilled practitioner but a trusted ally dedicated to the well-being of your cherished pets.

Growing up surrounded by animals, I always felt a calling to care for them. The desire to help pets live free of pain and infection have been constant motivators in my life.

My dream of becoming a veterinarian remained steadfast, culminating in my graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2001. Following several years in mixed animal practice, I took a leap of faith and founded the Bayview Wellington Veterinary Clinic in 2010. Amidst the demands of running a successful clinic, my love for learning endured, driving me to seek ways to integrate new knowledge into enhancing the lives of my patients.

This pursuit led me on a transformative journey to become a pain practitioner and, subsequently, a veterinary dentist. In 2022, I achieved a significant milestone by becoming a diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College, symbolizing my unwavering commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.

In essence, my journey epitomizes a steadfast dedication to providing top-notch care for animals. I believe in practical, science-based solutions and am resolute in making a positive impact on the well-being of the pets entrusted to my care.

A veterinary dentist is a specialized veterinarian who focuses on the oral health and dental care of animals.  They are trained to diagnose, treat, and prevent various dental and oral issues that animals may experience. Just like humans, animals can suffer from dental problems such as gum disease, tooth decay, oral infections and tumours. Veterinary dentists have advanced knowledge and training in dental procedures and techniques specific to animals.

Veterinary dentists often work closely with regular veterinarians to provide comprehensive healthcare for animals. Veterinary dentists may perform procedures such as difficult extractions, root canal treatments, advanced periodontal treatment, jaw fracture repair, and other extensive oral surgeries. They also play a crucial role in educating pet owners about proper dental hygiene and care to ensure the overall well-being of their animal companions.

Becoming a veterinary dentist requires years of training beyond the standard veterinary degree and the passing of the board exam, as it is a specialized field within veterinary medicine.
